Quentin Tarrantino riding a mechanical bull .. and why I have it on video.

A couple of months back I was in LA on business and after work some colleagues and I went out for dinner at the Saddle Ranch Chop House on the sunset strip. We were seated at a table near the mechanical bull and as we looked around we noticed Quentin Tarantino at the bar with a few of his “entourage”. They appeared to be having a good time as were most of the people hanging out at the bar. Over the next hour or so we witnessed a number of people who thought that the consumption of alcohol was the secret to channeling the spirit of long forgotten cowboys and the skill necessary to tame the bull. Each person however was proven ceremoniously wrong and tossed on their drunk butts but the rather attractive female mechanical bull operator. Then, Mr. Tarantino sashays over to the device and slides on. Unlike the cowboys (and cowgirls) who went before him he bowed to the goddess at the controls and was treated to a gentle ride on the formidable beast.

Lessons learned:

• If you are famous people will often be more gentle with you when you are drunk.
• Always bow and pay respect to the lady at the controls of a powerful device you are about to ride.

Traveling Business Man Observation: Don’t carry your digital camera around in your computer back across country a few hundred times unless you put it in something that is really, really well protected. After a while the CCD chip in the camera begins to die and provides with a really crappy video (as you can see above).
